Summary

Buddy is a digital solution designed to help young adults manage the complexities of administrative tasks. Initially launched as a newsletter, the project quickly gained traction with over 17,000 subscribers, validating the concept before evolving into a mobile application. The platform now centralizes information, task management, and exclusive offers in a personalized and gamified experience.

The Problem

Administrative tasks such as taxes, forms, and legal documents are often perceived as stressful, complex, and time-consuming. For young adults, this creates uncertainty, a high risk of errors, and a strong need for accessible guidance.

Business & User Needs

Context about Buddy at this point

At the start of the project, the team intended to move straight into developing the Buddy app without validating the concept with users. This approach overlooked the uncertainty around adoption, as administrative tools are not naturally part of young adults’ daily digital habits. Without testing, the risk was building a product that users would not engage with. I pushed for a new discovery phase

Business Needs

A scalable solution was needed to validate the concept before investing in full app development.

User Needs

We then restarted a Discovery Phase to test real user need, ending up validating newsletter as an MVP.

Design Process

The Newsletter is now running and successfull, time to scale with an app.

With the newsletter validated and growing rapidly, the concept had proven its value. The next step was to scale the experience into a full application, translating insights from early testing into a structured design process.

What I’d Do Differently

Test the app experience earlier with low-fidelity prototypes to catch usability issues sooner.
